Choice of fabric can make this pattern up scaled and elegant or more casual. The skills you will learn in this PDF pattern are making rolled webbed handles, mitered corners and adding trim with edge stitching. Skill level is for a confident beginner.

Pattern includes 33 pages of step-by-step detailed instructions and 43 photos to guide you throughout the assembly process.

This pattern is a measure and cut pattern, meaning all pattern pieces are drafted and cut by using a cutting mat, rotary cutter, and ruler. NO TEMPLATES are provided to make this bag. All the cutting dimensions are provided for both sizes. A ruler that is 50cm in length works well. All dimensions are in centimeters CM in this pattern. Plus you get a sheet of labels to keep your pieces organized!

I love the structure of the bag, the strength, and the classic look. I am looking forward to sew the next one in a beautiful tapestry fabric I have had on the shelf and make it without a decorative band. The pattern allows you to choose to put the decorative band on all sides of the bag or just the sides you want to. You can also increase the length on the handles to carry on your shoulder. There are several options to customize and make it your own!

The bags shown in the photos were sewn with contrasting thread so it is easier for you to see here the stitching you will be making. However, I do like the way it looks when the thread has less contrast and matches exactly to the fabric, or to the dominant color on the edge of the print in a piece of fabric.

There are 2 sizes included in the sewing pattern. In the photographs you will see that I added some items inside each bag size to demonstrate different uses and capacity. The large has the towel inside and it is a big bag that can get you to the beach, or even a weekender bag that you can stuff with pouches and all your favorite accessories.

The smaller tote looks like it’s on its way to the office or the library. The small size can also be used as a purse. It is a reduced size that is small enough to carry to a restaurant with lots of room for your essentials.

The bag can be stored flat and can be easily packed in a suitcase. In fact, the small fits inside the large for storage!
